Rules Committee

The Committee on Rules is the ruling body of the Senate, which is comprised of the Chairs of the Committees and the President Pro Tempore. The committee handles all matters regarding Senate procedure, calendar, discipline, and absences. The committee approves all legislation passed by an individual committee before it is presented on the Senate floor. Here, it considers the effect, responsibility, role, and any other factors that legislation might mean for the student body, the University, and the broader community. The committee also approves all speakers on the Senate floors who do not normally have privilege to speak at Senate meetings according to Senate Rules. Additionally, the committee has the responsibility to provide a seamless and comprehensive transition from year to year.
